THREADSCAPE

 261 Waterloo St, Singapore 180261

Threadscape was the first project I completed in Year 2 of Design Studio at LASALLE. The idea revolving the project was to weave in parts of the old and new elements of the site and its programmes, represented by the weaving studios and community garden. Focusing on the 1st, 2nd floors and atrium of Waterloo Centre, Threadscape aims to weave the senior residents who live on the upper floors together with the nearby youth to engage in activities both old and new.

The project was completed with 3DSMax, Vray and Photoshop.

CONCEPT: “Can you walk 2 paths at once?”

Using the introduction of a new axis that responds to where there is more user activity to introduce the idea of a "new path", while varying the degrees of line of sight with different porosity to create the idea of "walking" between these 2 paths.

The programmes introduced seek to reflect that as well, by using participatory arts of textile craft that allow the elderly to express themselves through craft and gardening, while providing a hands-on activity for them to further engage their senses. The integration of these ‘existing’ and ‘new’ programmes provide a duality in experiencing these “2 paths”
